God Gave Himself Before He Gave the Law

In Exodus 34, God gave himself to Moses before he gave him the law.

God did not first give Moses the tablet of the law. Rather, He first spent time to infuse Moses with Himself by speaking to Moses concerning the enjoyment of Himself (2 Cor.3:3). Before God gave the law to Moses, God gave Himself to him. This clearly portrays God's intention.

God spent many days with Moses on the mountain. If His intention was only to give His people the law, that could have been accomplished in a few days. Why did it take 40 days on the mountain before Moses came back down? Because God gave Moses the time for Moses to truly know him.

2 Corinthians 3:3- Since you are being manifested that you are a letter of Christ ministered by us, inscribed not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tablets of stone but in tablets of hearts of flesh.
